PM Fiala tells COP28 summit Czechia ready to meet climate goals
At the COP28 climate conference in Dubai, Czech Prime Minister Petr Fiala voiced his country’s support for a declaration aiming to triple global nuclear capacity by 2050. The Czech head of government assured delegates to the summit that Czechia supports the goals of the Paris climate agreement and the EU's climate goals, including the goal of building a carbon-neutral economy by 2050. He stressed the importance of nuclear and renewable energy in seeking a balanced approach to greenhouse gas reduction that would not harm competitiveness. He said the Czech Republic is also ready to provide up to four million dollars (about 90 million crowns) over the next four years to a global fund to help developing countries fight climate change.
