PM Fiala: Putin's regime is testing NATO's defense capabilities
The overnight Russian drone attack on Ukraine, which also struck Polish territory, is, according to Prime Minister Petr Fiala (Spolu), a test of the NATO countries' defense capabilities. He stated that the regime of Russian President Vladimir Putin poses a threat to all of Europe and is systematically testing how far it can go. In a statement on the X platform, Fiala praised the effective response of Poland's air defense.
Czech politicians from across the board have condemned the incident. They expressed solidarity with Poland and called for a clear response from NATO. Some urged tougher sanctions against Russia and stronger defenses along the Alliance’s eastern flank.
“No one is safe. And no one can say that this war does not concern us” President Pavel said in response to the news.
The government is set to address the situation at its meeting on Wednesday.
