Písečná in Pardubice region named Village of the Year 2025
Písečná in the Pardubice region has been named Village of the Year 2025. The jury praised its care for the landscape as well as its rich cultural and community life.
Kosova Hora in Central Bohemia took second place, and Plenkovice in South Moravia finished third. A total of 181 municipalities entered this year’s competition, with 13 regional winners advancing to the national final.
The results of the 29th edition were announced on Saturday in the southern Bohemian village of Vacov, last year’s winner. The contest recognizes villages that excel in community life, public space, and sustainable rural development. Organized by the Association for Rural Renewal of the Czech Republic and partners, it is open to municipalities with up to 7,500 residents.
