Pirate Party says it will support no-confidence vote unless there is a government reshuffle

The opposition Pirate Party is threatening to back a no-confidence motion against Prime Minister Petr Fiala’s government, unless there is a government reshuffle in the wake of the bitcoin scandal that led to the resignation of the former justice minister Pavel Blazek. The Pirates, who walked out of the ruling coalition some time ago, say the ministries of justice and finance must be led by independent experts, if the government is to regain credibility in the wake of the scandal.

The other two opposition parties, ANO and Freedom and Direct Democracy, are demanding the immediate resignation of the entire cabinet. The leading ANO party has called for a special session of the lower house on Tuesday where it plans to table a vote of no-confidence in the Fiala administration. However even with support from the Pirate Party the opposition still lacks the necessary 101 votes to topple the government.
