Pioneering Czech chemist Rudolf Zahradník dies at 92

A one-time head of the Czech Academy of Sciences, Rudolf Zahradník, has died at the age 92. He was a pioneer of quantum chemistry in the Czech and Central European context and served as a mentor to future German chancellor Angela Merkel when she was a student. Professor Zahradník strove to popularize Czech science and its successes when he headed the Academy of Sciences.
