Pilsner Urquell to raise prices on most products from October

Pilsner Urquell, the largest Czech beer producer, will be raising the price of most of its products by an average of 5.7 percent from 1 October, the Czech News Agency reports. The biggest increase will be seen in the price of packaged beers, which will increase by an average of CZK 1.5 per half litre. Draught beer will increase by an average of CZK 1 per half litre.

According to Zdeněk Kovář, a spokesperson for the brewery, the reasons for the price hike are the ever increasing costs of energy, packaging, and transport. He told the Czech News Agency that the price increase is still lower than the current rate of inflation.
