Petr Bejček to become new head of Czech Environmental Inspectorate
Petr Bejček, who is currently serving as state secretary at the Ministry of Finance, is set to become the new head of the Czech Environmental Inspectorate (CEI) from March 1, Environment Minister Marian Jurečka announced on Friday. Mr Jurečka said that he expects the new director to improve the reputation of the inspectorate, as well as its efficiency.
As for Mr Bejček, he said that he hopes to improve the internal working processes at the institution and its digitisation. The former includes a review of how the inspectorate worked to investigate the Bečva river incident, where a cyanide leak in 2020 caused the death of tens of thousands of tons of fish.
