Peace Light of Bethlehem arrives in Czech Republic
The Pace Light of Bethlehem, a modern symbol of the Christmas season, has arrived in the Czech Republic. Local scout troops collected the light from their colleagues at the Austrian border on Sunday morning.
Czech scouts will now distribute the Peace Light across the country, placing it in churches and various institutions, from where people can light their own lamps.
The Peace Light of Bethlehem tradition was established by a regional studio of Austrian state broadcaster ORF in 1986. The Czech Republic has been taking part since December 1989, shortly after the fall of communism.
