Pavel at NATO: West has no alternative but to back Ukraine

Czech President Petr Pavel says that Czechia and NATO are prepared to support Ukraine in the long term on its journey to the end of the war, post-war renewal and membership of the alliance.

Mr. Pavel made the comment at NATO headquarters on the first day of a three-day visit to Brussels. He told reporters after a meeting with NATO general secretary Jens Stoltenberg that the West had no alternative but to back Ukraine following the Russian invasion of the entire country.

The Czech head of state is due to hold talks on Thursday with the chair of NATO’s Military Committee, Rob Bauer. He himself held that position in the past. Mr. Pavel will also meet members of the Czech community in the Belgian capital.
