Part of Bohemian Switzerland handed back to park management

Part of Bohemian Switzerland, where a forest fire has been raging for the last two weeks, was handed back to the National Park administration by firefighters on Monday morning, the Czech News Agency reports. The fires in the area in question, a short distance from Janov, have already been extinguished.

The head of the fire department, Vladimír Vlček, predicts that the fire in the park as a whole will have been completely extinguished by Friday. The task of the park management will now be to ensure that the fire does not reappear and spread. To this end, there will be round-the-clock patrols checking for fires until at least August 31, a spokesman for the park administration told the Czech News Agency.
