Overtaking ban for heavy vehicles on D1 highway postponed

Plans to ban trucks and other heavy vehicles overtaking passenger cars along certain sections of the D1 highway have had to be postponed, Czech Television reported, citing the Directorate of Roads and Motorways. The directorate said it would not be able to install the necessary road signs by the end of the summer. The ban is thus likely to be enforced in the winter season. Although the D1 highway is the country’s main route from Prague to Brno, it only has two lanes and traffic police say that an overtaking ban for heavy vehicles would significantly help the flow of traffic and increase safety along certain stretches of the road.
