Overnight storms not much help to firefighters in Bohemian Switzerland
The cold front which advanced from Friday night into Saturday morning, bringing with it rain and strong winds, did not significantly help the firefighters in the Bohemian Switzerland national park, the Czech News Agency reported. Several firefighting units had to withdraw overnight due to the risk of falling trees caused by the wind, and furthermore, the wind fanned the flames, causing several new large outbreaks, which firefighters have nevertheless now managed to extinguish.
Although the cold front was accompanied by rain, it was not heavy enough to help the firefighters very much, though it did assist with some of the smaller fires, a fire brigade spokesman told the Czech News Agency. Firefighters have now been battling the fire for two weeks.
