Over 9,000 people apply for compensations over Vrbětice blasts

Over 9,100 people have applied for compensation for the damage caused by the explosions in Vrbětice munitions depo in South Moravia in 2014. The Interior Ministry has so far payed out more than CZK 298 million in total to nearly 8,600 residents, the office said in a press release on Wednesday.

The series of explosions, which have since been linked to Russian agents, killed two employees of the munitions depo and caused close to a billion crowns in damages. Thousands of people had to be temporarily evacuated from their homes.
