Over 6,000 people sign petition against new design of Prague’s railway bridge

More than six thousand people have signed an online petition demanding the reconstruction and preservation of the railway bridge connecting Prague's Výtoň and Smíchov districts, built at the turn of the 19th and 20th centuries

At the end of last year, the Railway Administration presented a project according to which only the lower part of the bridge with pillars should be preserved and the current structure replaced by a new one.

According to Richard Biegel, a member of the petition committee and chairman of the Club for Old Prague, the current form of the bridge is historically and technically valuable.
