Outgoing government fails to approve Transport Fund budget
The outgoing cabinet of Prime Minister Petr Fiala (Civic Democrats) on Wednesday failed to approve the 187-billion-crown budget of the State Fund for Transport Infrastructure (SFDI). Transport Minister Martin Kupka (Civic Democrats) said the fund is short of 37.5 billion crowns and that the problem will fall to the incoming government.
ANO’s Karel Havlíček earlier stressed the gravity of the situation, saying that the Railway Administration and the Road and Motorway Directorate cannot sign new contracts until the new government manages to secure 30–40 billion crowns for the planned projects. Funding is reportedly secured only through the end of this year, with 2026 still uncovered.
