Operation on Pardubice train route likely to resume on more tracks from Friday evening
More railway tracks on the train route through Pardubice could reopen on Friday evening, a spokesperson for the Railway Administration's fire brigade said on Friday morning. Only one track has been operating at a limited speed since Thursday following Wednesday night's fatal accident, when an express passenger train crashed into a freight train at the newly built Pardubice-Centre station shortly before 11 pm, leaving four people dead and 27 injured.
The clean-up of the debris is continuing, with only one wagon - the most badly damaged of the passenger carriages - still waiting to be removed. If all goes according to plan, the authorities expect operation on the route to be extended to more tracks from around 6 pm onwards.
