Only 100 hectares left to extinguish in Bohemian Switzerland
Firefighters in Bohemian Switzerland, who have now been battling the forest fire in the national park for seventeen days, only have about 100 hectares left to extinguish – a tenth of the original area. The number of firefighters has decreased from 1,000 to 850, a fire department spokesperson told the Czech News Agency. Their numbers will gradually be reduced further until the planned handover of the rest of the area to the park administration on Friday. Firefighters divided the park into four sectors; the first one near Janov was handed back to the park management on Monday.
