Oil flow stops from Russia's Druzhba pipeline to Czechia
Oil supplies from Russia's Druzhba pipeline to Czechia have been halted, a spokesman for Orlen Unipetrol announced on Wednesday. The state-owned oil pipeline operator Mero reassured that there is no immediate threat to the country’s oil supply, as deliveries continue via the western route and stocks from state reserves are available if needed.
Industry and Trade Minister Lukáš Vlček stated that while the Druzhba pipeline is currently inactive, there is no risk of an oil shortage for households and businesses, with supplies continuing via the Italian TAL pipeline. The government will discuss a precautionary measure this afternoon, proposing a loan of oil from state reserves to Orlen Unipetrol, should the situation not be resolved.
Orlen Unipetrol has already requested a loan from the State Material Reserves Administration to ensure fuel supply continuity in case of prolonged disruption.
