The number of Czech households with an digital ISDN phone line has been growing by hundreds of per cent every year - from 195 at the end of 1997 to more than 80,000 at the end of 2001 and to over 83,000 in April this year.

The number of Czech households with an digital ISDN phone line has been growing by hundreds of per cent every year - from 195 at the end of 1997 to more than 80,000 at the end of 2001 and to over 83,000 in April this year. The ISDN boom is connected with the development of the Internet and other data services. The dominant Czech telecommunications operator, Czech Telecom, which is one of two carriers in the country which offer ISDN lines, said the service account for five per cent of the company's total revenues last year.
