Prague City Hall at risk of being paralysed after deputy mayor tests positive for coronavirus

Between 30 to 40 politicians and civil servants who took part in Tuesday’s City Assembly meeting could be placed in quarantine, after Deputy Mayor Petr Hlubuček tested positive for the COVID-19 coronavirus, City Hall spokesperson Vít Hofman told the Czech News Agency on Wednesday.

The positive test has also sparked worries in the Chamber of Deputies, where two Prague City Assembly members are also present as MPs, writes news site Novinky.cz.

After information about the diagnosis came through, Chamber of Deputies Speaker Radek Vondráček called the situation “risky” and urged fellow deputies to wear facemasks.

Meanwhile, some members of the City Hall opposition have criticised Mr Hlubuček for attending the Monday meeting despite repeatedly stating that he felt unwell, Novinky.cz writes.
