Novinky: Czechia still lacks national electronic health records system

The Czech health sector is still operating without a centralized electronic health records system, which is a serious drawback, the news site Novinky wrote on Friday. Novinky says that while in Estonia the system was digitized in 2008, patients in Czechia are still given paper documents to deliver to their specialist or GP, which is both unreliable and costly. Ondřej Jakob, spokesman for the Czech Health Ministry, said Czech health data should be digitized by June, 2026 at the latest, within a National Recovery Plan, which is funded by the European Union.
