Poll shows Mayors and Independents closing gap on ruling ANO party

The opposition Mayors and Independents (STAN) party has narrowed the gap with the ruling ANO party, according to an October election poll by Kantar CZ published on Sunday. ANO remains in the lead with 29.5 percent support, while STAN has risen to 23.5 percent. All three governing parties – ANO, Freedom and Direct Democracy (SPD) and the Motorists – lost support compared with the previous poll in August.

STAN has gained eight percentage points since June, attracting voters from both ANO and opposition parties, including the Civic Democrats (ODS). ANO's decline was partly linked to disappointment over unfulfilled election promises and its coalition partners.

The poll puts ODS at 12.5 percent and the Pirates at 7.5 percent. SPD stands at 5.5 percent, while the Motorists have fallen to 4.5 percent, below the five-percent threshold for entering the Chamber of Deputies. The survey was conducted among 1,005 people between October 12 and 30.
