Finance Ministry expects public finance deficit to widen to 3.5 percent of GDP next year

The Czech Finance Ministry expects the public finance deficit to reach 2.8 percent of GDP this year before widening to 3.5 percent next year and then falling to around three percent. The figures are included in its latest fiscal outlook published today.

Last year, the deficit stood at 2.2 percent of GDP.

The ministry’s forecasts for this year and next are in line with the latest projections by the Czech National Bank (CNB). The central bank is more pessimistic about 2028, however, forecasting a deficit of 3.3 percent of GDP.
