Temelín nuclear power plant to replace transformers in multi-million investment
The Temelín nuclear power plant is preparing to replace its tap-changing transformers, which supply electricity for the plant’s own operations. The new equipment is being manufactured and is due to replace the existing transformers over the next two years.
The investment, worth hundreds of millions of crowns, will improve the reliability of power supplies to the plant’s technological systems and represents another step towards extending its long-term operation, plant spokesman Marek Sviták told journalists.
Temelín’s operating life is expected to be extended to 80 years, until 2080 and 2082 for its two units, respectively.
