Babiš: EU emissions trading system costing Czechia billions
The Czech prime minister, Andrej Babiš, has again criticised the European Union’s emissions trading system. Speaking at the opening of the International Industrial Fair in Brno on Tuesday, Mr. Babiš said that the system had cost Czechia CZK 159 billion in three years, Novinky.cz reported.
The Czech leader said he wanted the current ETS 1 emissions allowances to be suspended and the planned ETS 2 system to be postponed.
Mr. Babiš told delegates that he would discuss the “huge problem” of emissions allowances with fellow EU leaders later on Tuesday.
