Bartůňková stuns Sabalenka to reach Beijing Open fourth round
Twenty-year-old Czech tennis player Nikola Bartůňková has knocked Aryna Sabalenka of Belarus out in the third round of the Beijing tournament. She defeated the world number two and four-time Grand Slam champion 6-4, 6-3.
Bartůňková recorded the biggest win of her career. Before the match, she had a 1-4 record against players ranked in the world's top 10 in WTA Tour matches.
In the fourth round, Bartůňková will face Austria's Sinja Kraus, the world number 85.
Three other Czech players are also scheduled to compete in Beijing on Sunday. Wimbledon champion Linda Nosková will face Switzerland's Viktorija Golubic, Karolína Muchová will take on Russia's Liudmila Samsonova, and Sára Bejlek will play Japan's Naomi Osaka.
