Czech women win Billie Jean King Cup for 12th title

The Czech women’s tennis team have won the Billie Jean King Cup, claiming their 12th title in the history of the team competition.

The Czech Republic sealed a 2-0 victory over Ukraine in the final in Shenzhen, with Linda Nosková beating Elina Svitolina 6-3, 7-6 on hard court. The Wimbledon champion followed Karolína Muchová’s earlier 6-2, 6-3 victory over Anhelina Kalinina.

For Nosková, Muchová, Marie Bouzková and Sára Bejlek, it was their first Billie Jean King Cup title. Doubles player Kateřina Siniaková had already won the competition eight years ago.

Captain Barbora Strýcová became only the fourth person in the competition’s history to win the title both as a player and as a captain.
