National Budget Council: Trigger of debt brake brought forward

Due to the loosening of fiscal policy, the expected trigger of Czechia’s debt brake has been brought forward from 2037 to 2034, the chairman of the National Budget Council, Mojmír Hampl, said on Thursday.

The economist was speaking at the release of a report on compliance with fiscal responsibility rules in 2025 and an annual report on the long-term sustainability of public finances.

According to the National Budget Council, this year has seen a reversal of the previous trend toward fiscal consolidation. It says that the country's public finances cannot be considered sustainable.
