President Pavel calls for continued international non-recognition of Russia’s annexation of Crimea

The international community must continue its policy of not recognising the annexation of Crimea, Czech President Petr Pavel said in a speech at the Crimea Platform summit on Wednesday.

According to Pavel, Russia’s occupation of the peninsula remains a flagrant violation of the UN Charter and the fundamental principles of sovereignty and territorial integrity. He emphasized that the violation is being committed by a permanent member of the UN Security Council.

The summit is being held in New York on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly, with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky also in attendance.
