Czech army resumes Viper and Venom helicopter flights

The Czech army has resumed flights of its Viper and Venom helicopters at the Náměšť nad Oslavou base, where a Venom crashed in July, killing one soldier and injuring four others. The crash led the army to suspend all H-1 helicopter operations.

The US-made helicopter crashed while landing after a routine training flight. The military police are investigating the crash on suspicion of negligent endangerment, while a Defence Ministry commission is also looking into the circumstances.

The army said the helicopters returned to service after special technical checks, organisational measures and additional crew training. Czech H-1 helicopters operating in Poland resumed flights on Monday.
