Justice Minister confirms US request to extradite four Mexicans, two have already agreed to extradition

Justice Minister Jeroným Tejc (ANO) has confirmed that the United States has asked the Czech Republic to extradite four detained Mexican nationals who are being prosecuted in connection with drug and terrorism-related crimes. According to the minister, two of them agreed to be extradited, and their extradition took place last week. The other two remain in custody in the Czech Republic, while a prosecutor is now reviewing the US extradition request and the supporting documents. The minister added that the extradition process usually takes several months.

The detention of the four Mexicans in the Czech Republic in June was reported today by AFP. According to the agency, they are members of the powerful Jalisco New Generation Cartel, and the US authorities accuse them of attempting to purchase submachine guns, grenade launchers, and mortars in the Czech Republic in exchange for drugs such as fentanyl or methamphetamine. They face the possibility of life imprisonment.
