Foreign Ministry planning overhaul of travel registration system Drozd

The Foreign Ministry plans to modernize the Czech Republic's Drozd travel registration system, Foreign Minister Petr Macinka (Motorists) said. Although the system has performed reliably, he described it as outdated and said it should be replaced with a more advanced platform offering additional features.

One planned addition is a healthcare section that would allow Czechs abroad to connect with Czech doctors.

Drozd (Voluntary Registration of Citizens Traveling Abroad) enables travelers to register their trips with the ministry before departure. In the event of a crisis abroad, Czech authorities can more easily contact registered citizens and provide important information. The system has been in operation since 2009 and was introduced following several major international crises, most notably the 2004 Indian Ocean tsunami.
