Czech Republic and Slovakia to consider joint purchase of AM120 mortars

The Czech Republic and Slovakia will explore the possibility of jointly acquiring AM120 mortars for their mechanised brigades, Czech Defence Minister Jaromír Zůna (for SPD) said at a press conference after meeting his Slovak counterpart Robert Kaliňák in Prague today.

The Czech Republic has also signed an agreement on its future accession to Slovakia’s framework contract for the procurement of Tatra T-815 vehicles in 25 variants. A joint purchase would allow both countries to benefit from volume discounts.

The ministers agreed that by signing the memorandum today, both countries are sending a signal that their defence cooperation continues to develop. The agreement follows a memorandum signed at the beginning of this year.
