Czech government orders overhaul of crisis and defence laws
The Czech government has tasked the interior and defence ministries with preparing draft legislative changes within the next 12 months to enable a more effective response to future crises.
The decision follows a government review of crisis management, defence and related legislation. Defence Minister Jaromír Zůna (SPD) said the current legal framework largely dates back to the 1990s and no longer reflects today's security environment.
The planned overhaul is intended to incorporate lessons learned from recent crises, changes in the security landscape, evolving threats and new technologies.
