Czech involvement in the Prioritised Ukraine Requirements List seen as a positive signal, says President Pavel

Czech President Petr Pavel described the Czech Republic's planned participation in the Prioritised Ukraine Requirements List (PURL) initiative as a positive step. Under the initiative, European countries finance U.S.-made weapons destined for Ukraine. Pavel made the remarks to journalists during an afternoon briefing in Ankara, where this year's NATO summit is taking place. Before departing for Ankara earlier today, Foreign Minister Petr Macinka announced that the Czech Republic would join the programme.

PURL enables European allies and Canada to purchase ammunition and weapons manufactured in the United States and subsequently provide them to Ukraine. Participation in the initiative is voluntary for NATO member states.
