Miroslav Hlaváč symbolically takes over as head of Czech Army
The new head of the Czech Army, Miroslav Hlaváč, symbolically took over the post from his predecessor, Karel Řehka, in a ceremony at Prague’s Vítkov National Memorial on Tuesday, with General Řehka handing his successor the battle flag of the General Staff.
Earlier Lieutenant General Hlaváč had been appointed by President Petr Pavel at Prague Castle. He officially takes over the role on Wednesday, July 1 and his term is set to last four years.
