Addiction and social inclusion experts to strike Monday over govt. move
Czech specialists working in the fields of addiction and social inclusion are set to go on a symbolic two-hour strike on Monday in protest at a shake-up under which some responsibilities are being transferred from the Office of the Government to individual ministries.
Union officials at the Agency for Social Inclusion will put forward their demands on Monday afternoon, according to a statement.
The government decided last week to transfer the human rights and drug policy agenda, under which addiction issues fall, to four different ministries starting in July. Drug policy will newly fall under the authority of the Ministry of Health.
Experts working in the field fear that the change will jeopardize the availability, quality and continuity of care for their clients.
