Firefighters battling forest blaze in Czech Switzerland National Park
Firefighters are battling a forest fire in Rynartice, part of the municipality of Jetřichovice in the Czech Switzerland National Park. The blaze is estimated to have spread across an area of 100 hectares. Fire services have declared a third level fire alert.
Two helicopters are assisting firefighting efforts from the air and eleven units are operating in difficult-to-access terrain.
Smoke from the fire can be seen from a considerable distance.
Park rangers are also at the scene. “We are supporting the firefighting operation with drone navigation and terrain guidance,” reserve administration spokesman Tomáš Salov told the Czech News Agency.
