Czechs to seek fuel from Slovakia if Russia turns off supply to source Germany
Czechia is in talks with Slovakia over the possibility of acquiring fuel from a Slovak refinery, the Czech minister of industry and trade, Karel Havlíček, said on Thursday. The idea comes in response to the threat of a disruption in supplies from Germany, from which Czechia sources around 30 percent of its domestic fuel supply.
Speaking at a conference on energy in Prague, Mr. Havlíček said the danger arose from Russia’s announcement that it would halt oil supplies from Kazakhstan to Germany via the Druzhba pipeline starting 1 May.
