8 places to go in Prague over Easter

Are you in Prague for the Easter holidays? Here are 8 tips for places to go and things to see.

Easter Markets

In the centre of Prague, a variety of Easter markets offer traditional goods such as hand-painted Easter eggs, willow whips, Easter decorations, handmade products, and all kinds of treats. You can soak up the charm of spring on Old Town Square and Wenceslas Square, as well as at Mariánské Square, where NGO stalls will be present. Traditional markets can also be found at Náměstí Míru and Náměstí Republiky.

Easter at Karel Zeman Museum

3–4 April, Prague 1

The Karel Zeman Museum will have a Magical Easter program, inspired by Karel Zeman’s legendary fairy tale The Magician’s Apprentice. Set out on an adventurous journey and complete seven themed tasks along the way. You will, for example, uncover the secrets of magical potions or create your own protective amulet.

Exhibition Fragments of Memory – St. Vitus Treasure in the Mirror of Contemporary Art

Runs until 26 July, Prague 1

Prague Castle invites you to this year’s largest exhibition, connecting medieval artefacts with contemporary art. On display are more than 140 medieval and Renaissance reliquaries, paintings, sculptures, and rare textile pieces from the St. Vitus Treasure, alongside works by contemporary artists. Highlights include the golden Coronation Cross, also known as the Reliquary Cross.

Signal Space Gallery

The Old Town Market Hall has been transformed into the first permanent gallery of digital art called Signal Space. Eight exhibitions by Czech and international artists await you, along with the curatorial platform CzechBox dedicated to Czech digital creation, a children’s zone called Signal Playground, and a relaxation area.

Titanic –The Artifact Exhibition

The exhibition will take you back to 1912 - you will see original artefacts pulled from the depths of the Atlantic, walk through replicas of real cabins, peer into the engine room and come face to face with the fateful iceberg, which you will even touch.

Exhibition - Butterflies: The Art of Survival

2 April – 17 May, Prague 7

In the Fata Morgana greenhouse at the Prague Botanical Garden, you can admire various species of exotic butterflies. This year’s exhibition reveals the secrets of their successful survival. Although butterflies may appear fragile at first glance, they use sophisticated strategies to deceive predators. Don’t miss the accompanying interactive exhibition Secrets of Butterfly Life, which presents this fascinating species living in its natural environment.

Easter at Prague Zoo

On Saturday –events marking International Day of Tasmanian Devils at Prague Zoo. A special programme will take place in Darwin’s Crater, including guided encounters and feeding sessions with these largest carnivorous marsupials.

On Monday, there will be guided feedings tours of a number of breeds.  At 13:30, you can also watch a sea lion training demonstration.

Opening of the season at Chuchle Arena Prague

Chuchle Arena Prague is launching its 120th season, with the opening promising several exciting horse races and a rich accompanying programme. There will also be food stalls, food trucks, and a café. Children’s admission includes pony rides, a bouncy castle, trampolines, and face painting. Dogs on leashes are also allowed in the venue.
