Prague figure skating championships draw nearly 128,000 spectators

The World Figure Skating Championships in Prague drew a record crowd of 127,837 spectators to the O2 Arena, the International Skating Union announced on Sunday.

The competition took place from Wednesday to Saturday, with large numbers of fans also attending Tuesday’s training sessions and Sunday’s gala exhibition. The previous attendance record was about 119,000 spectators at the 2000 championships in Cleveland in the United States.

Prague last hosted the figure skating world championships in 1993, when the event was held at the Sports Hall at the Holešovice Exhibition Grounds.
