Czechia secures preliminary U.S. gas terminal deal
The Czech Republic has a pre-negotiated long-term contract to reserve 1.4 billion cubic meters of gas per year at terminals in the United States. This was told to ČTK and Czech Television by Minister of Industry and Trade Karel Havlíček (ANO) after his return from the United States. According to him, the goal is to diversify energy sources and strengthen security.
“The company ČEZ is already discussing the details of the gas reservation contract at this moment. It is clearly a step toward energy security. In this way we will secure 20 to 30 percent of the Czech Republic’s gas consumption,” Havlíček said.
