Siniaková last Czech remaining at Australian Open
Kateřina Siniaková is the only Czech player remaining at the Australian Open after Karolína Muchová was eliminated from the women’s singles and Jakub Menšík withdrew from the tournament.
Muchová lost in the last 16 to American Coco Gauff, the world number three, going down 6–1, 3–6, 6–3 after a two-hour match.
Siniaková, who is playing doubles with American Taylor Townsend, reached the quarter-finals without playing after their opponents withdrew, while Menšík pulled out ahead of his scheduled fourth-round match against Novak Djokovic because of an abdominal muscle injury.
