Drivers urged to take care as icy conditions persist
Roads across the Czech Republic remain passable but drivers are advised to exercise caution. Main roads are mostly wet, while snow remains on side roads, particularly in mountainous areas. However, freezing rain forecast for Wednesday afternoon in the eastern half of the country could lead to more hazardous conditions. Black ice may also form especially in parts of the Pardubice and Olomouc regions, according to an updated warning from the Czech Hydrometeorological Institute (ČHMÚ).
On Tuesday, an above-average number of traffic accidents was recorded across Czechia as icy conditions affected much of the country. Police logged 339 accidents, the Czech News Agency reported.
