President Pavel to attend Security Council meeting on ammunition initiative

President Petr Pavel will attend a meeting of the Czech State Security Council on Wednesday, the Presidential Office has announced.

The council will meet for the first time in its new composition, and one of the key topics on the agenda will be the future of the Czech ammunition initiative. Under the scheme, Czechia helps coordinate supplies of large-calibre ammunition for Ukraine.

Prime Minister Andrej Babiš of the ANO party sharply criticised the initiative ahead of last year’s elections and promised to cancel it. Toward the end of the year, however, he said the project was sound in principle, adding that the main question was whether it had operated without corruption.
