Schools report rise in aggression, truancy and self-harm
Aggression among pupils, verbal abuse of teachers and truancy have increased at Czech primary schools, while truancy remains a long-term issue at secondary schools, according to the findings of the Czech School Inspectorate. Secondary schools have also seen a rise in cyberbullying, verbal aggression and problematic use of digital technologies. In its annual report for the 2023/2024 school year, the inspectorate also described as alarming the fact that cases of self-harm were recorded at nearly half of the inspected primary schools, calling for greater attention to students’ mental health.
