Study: A typical Christmas Eve dinner in Czechia will cost less than last year
This year, a typical Czech Christmas Eve dinner for a family of four - including fish soup, fried carp, chicken schnitzels and potato salad - will cost CZK 824 (EUR 34), around five per cent less than last year. This follows from data provided to the Czech News Agency (ČTK) by the investment platform eToro, which tracks the cost of Christmas Eve dinners in 12 countries.
The lower price is mainly due to cheaper vegetables, as Czechia benefited from a strong harvest of vegetables and potatoes this year. By contrast, prices abroad are generally rising, increasing by 28 per cent in Germany and 26 per cent in France. The cost of Christmas meals continues to be strongly influenced by overall food inflation, which remains one of the key factors shaping prices.
