Czech-backed ammunition initiative for Ukraine raises CZK 100 billion

Donors have contributed around CZK 100 billion to an international ammunition initiative for Ukraine, with Czechia providing between two to three billion crowns,  former foreign minister Jan Lipavský said on CNN Prima News on Sunday.

Czechia is cooperating mainly with the Netherlands and Denmark on the initiative. Ukraine received 1.8 million rounds of ammunition this year, and more than four million in total since the programme began. Prime Minister Andrej Babiš is due to discuss the initiative on Monday with the head of the Czech defence cooperation agency AMOS.

Defence Minister Jaromír Zůna said Czech support for Ukraine will continue, while adding that forms of assistance should be carefully assessed. He said the future of the initiative will be decided by the government as a whole.
