FM Macinka: Czechia ready to renew close cooperation with Slovakia
The Czech Republic is ready to resume above standard relations with neighbouring Slovakia, which were interrupted by the previous government, Czech Foreign Minister Petr Macinka said on his first foreign trip to the former sister-state on Tuesday. Slovak Foreign Minister Juraj Blanár welcomed the commitment and the fact that, in line with tradition, the newly appointed Czech foreign minister had made his first foreign trip to Slovakia. The previous Czech government led by Petr Fiala suspended intergovernmental consultations with Slovakia in March last year, citing differences in foreign policy views, particularly over the war in Ukraine.
