Student protest against environment portfolio going to Motorists’ party

Students in Prague and several other Czech cities held protests on Tuesday against the prospect of the Motorists’ party heading the Ministry of Environment. Environmental groups claim that leaving the environment portfolio in the hands of a Motorists’ representative would jeopardize public health and dismantle nature protection efforts. The protests were organized by Czech representatives of the Universities for Climate movement. The Motorists received the environment ministry portfolio under a coalition deal agreed on by the three parties of the emerging government. They are vehemently opposed to the Green Deal.
